I Can Smell Spring.

Finally, the snow is melting, I can hear the birds in the morning singing their song, the chipmunks have made their appearance and oh! there are so many of them :) After an verrrrrrryy long 'shortest month of the year' and all the trials and tribulations that come with it....can it be real? Is spring almost here?

I can hardly wait.

I don't suffer from S.A.D but this February was a tough one. Jennie at Blog in a Cyber Bottle aptly described it as the BLAHS. She is right! Everything can be a chore, so you keep your nose to the grindstone and going forward. When I couldn't care if I had my camera with me, (oh oh NOT a good sign) or couldn't be bothered to open a link on the web - well something is amiss.

I do enjoy the winters, after all I am a Canuck, but when I have to put on two of everything - socks, scarves, mitts and an extra sweater, then wade through snow to my knees, shovel and pray my car starts, and I still am cold - it gets tiring. I drive an older, small car. It is fairly reliable but as cars go, it needs things fixed and replaced after 200,000 kms. A trip to the mechanic is never much less than 300,00$ and this month was TWO trips. One was the brakes. Let me tell you, last summer my brakes failed me on a busy street in Barrie and that was hair rasising. This time it was the main brake lines. :( SO the drive home was very slow, through snow covered country roads and me starting to brake about 100 feet before a stop sign. I just prayed there wouldn't be any huge trucks tailing me.

The cost, the cold, but the greatest fear was not getting out to work. I felt isolated not being able to drive but so trapped and anxious when I couldn't get to work. (about 4 days all told) All of my friends are away for the winter, so there wasn't anyone I could ask for a ride. Now, I never take cabs, except on holidays in the Caribbean, but I had to twice here! Sheesh..the distance.

And I am so sick of wearing boots! My poor feet!

Anyway, spring is almost here, the sap will should be running and the Maple syrup festivals are this month! YAY!
