As usual, our good neighbours to the south, the U.S., really know how to throw a party. I was able to see some of the days events when I got home from work. I LOVE PARADES AND MARCHING BANDS. They were sll just terrific! Those poor kids from Hawaii, they must have been freezing.
A new President, a new beginning, history...all begins today. Mr Obama sure has a full plate though. I wasn't able to let the kids watch it at school today as we don't have cable in the classroom, but the library had the TV on and kids could watch it there if they chose.
Okay, now for the important stuff. Michelle Obama's dress this evening was gorgeous. Such a pale pale yellow. She looked so sweet. Is sweet a suitable word for the First Lady of the US...but heck she looked lovely. When Beyonce sang 'At Last" I got verklempt! *sniff* I love that song and I like Beyonce. Presently he is addressing the crowd at the ball for the military. Very nice.
You bring a bright light and some youthful energy and enthusiasm to the country'
Wouldn't it be nice if we Canucks showed such emotion and such a display for one of our politicians. It reminds me if the Trudeau years. :) Then again we pride ourselves on being nice, cool and unemotional. <--- I wonder if that is some of think old Brit in some of us, 'stiff upper lip' and all.

Thanks for the congrats! We Americans definitely wear our hearts on our sleeves...good or bad, I guess. We do love our Canadian neighbors! When I was there years ago...in Quebec province...we were all treated so nicely! It's nice to get to visit another country without changing time zones!...Debbie
ReplyDeleteYes Debbie, your patriotism is really something to admire. I am not sure why we are so reserved, as I said maybe that stiff upper lips for those who descended from Brit stock.
ReplyDeleteQuebec is lovely. I love it there. It has it's own charm. Montreal is such a vibrant city..they do have that joie de vivre, something those of us from the Toronto area lack. I love Toronto :0), but there is that difference. What is so great about Toronto is all the different neighbourhoods with their own charm and character - Greektown along the Danforth, Riverdale,. The Beaches Little India, Kensington, The Breqwery District, The Theatre district. Toronto is a wonderful city with so much to see and do. :0))
