I love spring! Everything smells fresh and clean. We have days of sunshine and very warm temperatures and then there are those rainy days. I keep reminding myself "April showers bring May flowers" and all. There are some more flowers beginning to come up. The crocuses have been great so far, lily of the valley I see of irises. YES!!!! Finally ;)
I have been caught up in the Susan Boyles phenomena, How wonderful to see all this happen to her - fame and, hopefully, fortune and recognition for her talents. Initially, I thought the judges were a bit smug with their compliments - but they seemed genuinely happy for her success. However I AM so tired of the back handed, almost passive-aggressive reports. Some of these reporters have to preclude their praise with a negative. I read "as she clomped on stage...." Sheesh. This is an everyday woman, who doesn't conform to what everyone thinks we should look like. This lady could be one of those nice ladies on your street, you know...the ones who work hard at the church potlucks, yard sales, fund raising. How come everyone has tonegate their praise with a not so subtle putdown. I think they are all jealous that the sheep are notl bleeting and conforming to their expectations.
Yup middle aged ladies, married or single, with cats and untamed locks are very capable of thinking for themselves and can be successful. We are still useful. Just because the last egg has dropped doesn't mean we aren't valuable and worthy!
As one of those middle aged, pudgy, cat ladies with hair that has been the bane of my existence ever since I took a pair of scissors to it when I was 8 - GO SUSAN GO! And a date with that very cute Piers Morgan. Whoohoo. He seems to be so gallant and chivalrous, but who cares - a nice dinner, wine and flowers with a nice man. Sighhhhh...I only wish I could sing ;);)
Anyway, I AM caught up in it and have enjoy this heart warming uplifting story.
I still read all your posts and thank you all so much. I am still struggling with dial up. Arrrggghhh...soon, back to high speed soon.

She has such a beautiful voice! I just love to hear her. If I could meet her I would simply say, "You Go Girl!" Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteGirl, I loved your post about "us" being still useful and having worth. Daggone it, now, how do we convince the world, eh?
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you're experiencing just a tad of Spring...lily of the valley is such a lovely thing to see, and smell...so old fashioned. Makes me think of gardens long ago of my mom's and grandmother's. Sigh....
I love the blast you have given to all the snide remarks now that the blush is off the rose, so to speak. Susan is a marvel and as a woman way older than her, I make no apologies for the occasional freshening up. Good for you, Susan.
